Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

No. We are not affiliated with any insurance companies.  Upon request, a Superbill may be supplied at the end of the month. If your insurance agrees to pay for out of network speech services, you may try to submit the Superbill for reimbursement.  It is the client's responsibility to work with their insurance company for possible out of network reimbursement.  Barnett Speech Therapy will not be involved in the process.

**We do accept cash, all credit cards, and checks

Why don't you accept insurance?

Dealing with insurance companies is time consuming and expensive.  Instead, we have chosen to dedicate our time and resources to help our clients more directly.

What is a Superbill?

A Superbill is similar to a receipt of services. It includes information regarding date of services and fees collected, as well as more specific information insurance companies require. A Superbill may be submitted by the client to their insurance company to help pay for services provided by an out of network provider. Not all insurance companies will pay for out of network speech therapy services. The procedure of submitting a Superbill and whether or not services will be reimbursed should be discussed between the client and their insurance company. Barnett Speech Therapy will not be involved.

What should I ask my insurance about out-of-network reimbursement?

If you want to get reimbursed for speech services by your insurance company by submitting a Superbill, here are a few questions to ask your insurance company prior to starting speech therapy:

  • Will you reimburse me for speech services from an out of network provider?

  • How much will I be reimbursed?

  • What is the maximum amount insurance will pay?

  • Is there a set limit to the number of visits I am allowed to have?

  • What speech services will you reimburse me for? (speech therapy, evaluations....)

How long and frequent are speech therapy visits?

The length of a speech therapy session varies on the client's needs and attention.  Sessions may run 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. Depending on the type and severity of the deficits, therapy may be recommended 1 time, 2 times, or 3 times a week.

Why private speech therapy?

Private speech therapy is provided one on one and in the comfort of the child's natural environment. Parents and/or caregivers are encouraged to observe some if not all the sessions to help with carryover outside of therapy. There is more communication between the speech pathologist and parent, which will help the child achieve their speech goals. By choosing private speech therapy, the client and speech pathologist are in control of the goals to target.

How do you accept payment?

How do I  know if my child needs speech therapy?
